MCBI is gearing up for the 2016 Shark Tub. Last year's Shark Tub was a huge success with over 300 people in attendance. It was great exposure for all participating companies. This year is going to be even bigger with up to $8,000 in cash for the top three companies and we’re expecting even more attendees this year. Attendees will be given $100,000 of fake money to “invest” in the most creative and promising businesses. The 3 businesses with the most "investment" money will go in front of local sharks for a chance to win a cash prize. Click on the link below if interested in participating.

Zanesville, Ohio – Sept. 28, 2015 – MCBI, a regional business incubator founded to boost economic activity in Southeastern Ohio through mentoring entrepreneurs to optimize their businesses, today announced it is accepting entries to its annual “Shark Tub” event, slated to take place on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 6-9 p.m.
Modeled after the popular ABC reality show “Shark Tank” where contestants pitch business presentations to a group of investors, MCBI’s “Shark Tub” event will follow a similar format to provide vast exposure to all participating companies. More than 300 attendees will be given $100,000 to “invest” in the most creative and promising businesses. From this process, the top three organizations will go in front of a panel of ‘shark’ investors to pitch the business model and potentially take home the top prize of $8,000. The entry fee for participating companies is $100.
Due to the anticipated high-volume of entries, MCBI has established a strict selection process with a series of deadlines listed below:
Friday, Oct. 2 – Final day for companies to simply express interest in participating with no further commitment. Following this phase a one-page application will be sent from MCBI via email.
Friday, Oct. 9 – Applications due, via email.
Friday, Oct. 16 – Final selections will be made.
“As with the organizations we choose to mentor here at MCBI, we’re looking for a solid mix of companies that have high-growth potential, a sound business model, and an innovative product or service that can be brought to market for Shark Tub 2016,” said Larry Triplett, executive director of MCBI. “While it’s great to award a cash prize, we truly relish the opportunity to potentially raise the visibility of all participating companies, and therefore the business landscape, here in Southeastern Ohio through this event.”
In “Shark Tub” 2015 Disrupt Media of Zanesville, Ohio, took the top prize of $5,000 from a pool of 15 participating entries comprised of regional, small businesses covering a wide-range of industries.
