Born and raised on the west side of Cleveland, James Stafford graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in Forest Resources Management in 1976. Moving south to work for Champion International and the Alabama Forestry Commission running their bare-root nursery, he returned to Ohio in 1981 to manage the Green Springs Nursery. He headed up the Ohio Division of Forestry’s Tree Improvement program from 1984-1994, then transferred to the Zanesville office of the DOF Service Forestry program to work with private landowners until 2000. Leaving the State to start his own consulting firm, Muskingum Valley Woodland Services, he covers the Muskingum River’s watershed. MVWS is a complete forest management company, providing a wide range of services, from timber marking to forest management plans. He currently lives in Zanesville Ohio. He is married to Janet, a nursing manager at Genesis Healthcare and has 4 grown children and 4 terrific grandchildren. When not working in the woods, he attempts to golf, loves to fish, hunt and camp and spending time with his family.
